Diqui James was born in 1965 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 18, he enrolled in theater classes in spite of never having attended a theater production before. Six months after enrolling in classes at the Conservatorio Nacional for Theater, Mr. James felt he needed a more diverse learning environment. Diqui enrolled in acting classes with various teachers for the next four years and expanded his understanding of theater and acting techniques.
In 1987, true to his entrepreneurial spirit, he formed an organization called La Organización Negra(1985–1992), an independent theater group that created original plays. In 1993, Mr James co-founded De La Guarda, a performance that successfully ran from 1993–2006. In 2002, with many of the members of De La Guarda, he founded Fuerza Bruta, with the goal to form a company in which creativity and experimentation are priority.
Gaby Kerpel was born in 1964 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Gaby was encouraged by his older brother to take music lessons. Taking his brother’s advice, he was part of several jazz-rock and pop bands. In 1985 he joined “La Organización Negra,” a group that revolutionized the Argentine theater scene. Mr. Kerpel composed the music for many of the La Organización Negra productions and went on to work with Diqui James on various other projects including video, film and dance.
Fabio D’Aquila was born in 1967, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mr. D’Aquila has 5 years of electronic technician schooling and at the age of 20 left the University of Engineering, to explore the study of music. Fabio specialized in Bass guitar and was introduced to Gaby Kerpel, the music’s composer of La Organizacion Negra. Gaby was impressed with Fabio’s musical skill and invited him to collaborate with Gaby in writing music for the La Organicion Negra productions. Fabio expanded his learning from music to acting, performance management and set and theater design.
Mr. D’Aquila performed in La Tirolesa (‘89-‘90), and Almas Examinadas (’91-’92). In 1993 he was invited by Diqui James and Pichon Baldinu to be part of De La Guarda. Fabio began using his electronic technical skills in combination with his theater skills and was promoted to General Manager in 2002, co-founding Fuerza Bruta with Diqui James.
Mr. Garcia has a long history as a theater technician responsible for the technical aspects of numerous theater productions. He has worked in the theater industry for over 15 years. Alejandro lead all technical and safety aspects of the mountaineering stunts during Villa-Villa, a high risk show from the theater company De La Guarda.
Mr. Garcia’s in depth understanding of theater lighting, special effects and structure design enabled him to create all original Fuerza Bruta equipment, from the bubble that is used in Fuerza Bruta Wayra shows to the pool that lowers over the audience.
